How do you come up with your pricing?
The prices that we quote come out of our “Peace of Mind” pricing guide. Since our company was founded in 2014 we have tracked the most common tasks that we are asked to perform and figured out the average time required to perform each task, the cost of the materials and the cost associated with running a successful home service company that is able to provide a warranty and stand behind our work. We calculate our overhead by looking at all of the expenses we incur as a company over the course of the year and then we divide that out by the number of billable hours we expect to work each year. When we add up all of these calculations we are able to figure out what each task will cost us to perform.
Do you charge more for the weekends?
No, our plumbers run calls on Saturdays and charge the same price as they would any other day of the week. We do not have a different set of plumbing prices for work performed on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays.
Why don’t you charge by the hour?
The biggest problem with charging by the hour is that you can’t give a price until after the job is finished. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to wait to get a price on a repair until after the project is completed.
There are simply too many variables that make “charging by the hour” more of a win for the company, not the homeowner. If a technician has to go fetch a part, is older or slower than another guy, the job takes longer than expected, then you are going to pay more. Unfortunately, there are all things that are outside of the control of a homeowner, but they end up paying the price for anyways. When you charge by the hour there is no accountability on the plumbing company to have their trucks stocked better, train their plumbers better or run their business more efficiently. In other words, the longer the job takes, the better it is for the company.
As a company we subscribe to the WIN-WIN-WIN philosophy of doing business. That means that when we do a job for you we want you to win, our company to win and our Comfort Hero to win.
Why is your price different than other companies?
It is most unusual to find two plumbing or HVAC companies that charge the same price. Without digging into the details of your specific job, it is hard to know exactly why. Our prices are based on what it takes for our company to do the job, not what another company charges.
Most plumbing contractor and HVAC contractor companies are started by a technician that is trained to be a plumber, or HVAC repair man learning the trade. They are not trained in how to run a successful business. This is why so many plumbing and HVAC companies go out of business within the first three years.
Most of the companies that have been around for a long time were started by a plumber that happened to be good at business too. This is why so many contracting companies spring up during a good economy, because most of them are a one-man band. Unfortunately, they have to close their doors when there is an economic downturn. This leaves a plethora of warranty problems and other issues behind them.
There are so many small things that go into running a successful contracting business that is there when you need them, not only today but for generations to come. All of those costs have to be taken into consideration when pricing the work at your home. A lot of plumbing companies don’t take into account all of the expenses associated with doing the job and they do the best they can coming up with a price; frankly, sometimes it is a bit of a guess. They can be higher or lower

What do you charge to replace a water heater?
Replacing a water heater is one of those plumbing projects that a plumber really needs to see before quoting a price. The issue we run into is many water heaters that were installed over 5 years ago need additional updates to make them as safe as manufacturers say they should be. Common items missing from many water heaters are flexible gas lines, expansion tanks, combustion air, gas sediment trap, upgraded b-vent flue pipe, etc.
If you need your water heater replaced, one of our licensed plumbers can come to your home and quote you a price after inspecting your existing heater. This visit is free. Call to schedule an appointment.
What do you charge to replace a furnace?
Replacing a furnace is the type of heating project that an HVAC service expert needs to see before quoting a price. The issue we run into is many furnaces are sized incorrectly. A proper load calculation or heat loss was never run for the home, a basement has been added, or the home has been remodeled.

Do you charge more to come out after hours?
You will pay a little more to get a plumber or HVAC expert to your home after hours but they do not charge more for the work you want them to perform. Our prices come directly from our pricing guide. We do not have a different set of plumbing prices for doing work in the evenings or on weekends. The price for the plumbing work you need done will be the same regardless of the time of day.
Do you give free estimates?
There are several large plumbing and HVAC projects that we are willing to show you what options are available and the visit doesn’t cost you anything; basement finishes, water heater install/replacements, water softener installs/replacement, repiping, tankless water heater install/replacement etc. This is not a complete list so call us if you have questions about your project.

They’ll have everything they need to start your plumbing project while they’re at your home, unless the situation is unusual. Can you give me a ballpark price to fix my plumbing?
I have asked our plumbers to give me ballpark prices in the past and they usually answer with a long list of questions that they need answered before being able to give a price. Until our plumber sees everything involved with your plumbing project, they won’t give a ballpark price.
Most ballpark prices are a guess. Another company might give a range that they hope will cover the cost to do the job. And most of the time they have to come back and ask for more money. Our experience has shown that a ballpark price is usually not in anyone’s best interest.
Can you give me a ballpark price to repair my furnace or repair ac?
Since every situation is different, we don’t have ballpark pricing we can give out over the phone, but our techs are able to quote you a price once they have evaluated the situation. They will give you a straight forward price with all your options before any work begins. Once you agree to the service and the price, our techs have the necessary tools and parts in their vehicles and can start working immediately if you so choose.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
Our office staff answering phones and scheduling appointments are not plumbers or HVAC experts. They do not understand how the plumbing or HVAC system in your home works or how to price the work you need help with.
There are too many variables that need a service expert to look at before quoting you a price. We insist on getting our plumber on site to see what needs to be done so no crucial details are missed. The price they give you before the work begins is what the price will be after the work is completed, within the same scope of work.
Anyone that quotes a price over the phone is guessing and I have not met a homeowner that is happy when a plumber shows up and quotes a higher price “now that they have seen the job”. We don’t want to quote you a low price just to get a plumber to your home only to find out something was not communicated, and your plumbing project is more difficult than originally explained over the phone
